Lasso Technik's new Stop Silent Light Check Valve designed not only prevent sewer backflow into buildings, but also block animal infestation into the pipe system. With its innovative installation method, the new valve makes sewer protection easily accessible.

Traditional flap gate and ball style valves have proved to be unreliable in preventing sewage backflow, especially during flooding when there is no power to activate electrically controlled valves. Solids build-up and poor seals also contribute towards valve failure resulting in damaging sewer backflow.

The Stop Silent Valve overcomes these problems by combining a rubber check valve and expansion clamp that friction locks a tight seal inside the pipe. This allows for the largest opening possible with the lowest pressure drop to provide consistent backflow protection. The airtight seal also provides an effective barrier to stop gaseous odors from escaping into the air.

The new check valve can be used in a variety of applications including residential and commercial buildings, general sewage pipeline systems, waste/storm/rain water drains, and odor and biogas control. The new check valve is designed for back pressure up to 7.25 psi (0.5 bar) and is available in 4, 4.5, 5, 6 and 8-in. sizes. With its rubber membrane as the only moving part, maintenance is minimized.

“Traditional mechanical and electrical check valves are simply not reliable enough to ensure safe protection against sewage backflow,” says Daniel Rohrer, president of Lasso Technik. “Our Stop Silent Light Check Valve provides extremely dependable operation as it does not rely on electricity and is impervious to clogging from solids build-up.”

The Stop Silent Light sewer backflow prevention valve can be quickly and easily installed into existing sewer lines or inspection shafts. The valve is usually mounted at the entrance to a manhole and seals directly to the pipe, which eliminates the need for additional waterproofing and minimizes pressure loss. To install, the valve is inserted into the existing sewer pipe and fixed with a stainless steel expander clip without need for additional structures.
