This series covers how VSDs can be used to accommodate duty cycles with variable flow and head as well as applications to avoid. Session 1: Intro to VSDs 101: September 9, 2014 --- 1:00 - 2:00pm EDT
The first session introduces participants to Variable Frequency Drives as they are utilized to vary the speed of electric motors driving pumps and the benefits of using VFDs. Speed range, typical VFD features, and application considerations will also be of topic in this session.

Session 2: Application & Installation Considerations: September 11, 2014 --- 1:00 - 2:00pm EDT
The second session in this series covers environment considerations such as temperature, altitude, and space requirements and electrical system considerations such as harmonics, RFI, power quality, cable length, and equipment location. Load torque will also be a topic of discussion.

Session 3: Protection for VFD & Proper Output: September 16, 2014 --- 1:00 - 2:00pm EDT
The third session focuses on important considerations when installing VFDs in different environments and applications. This session covers protection of the VFD system and managing the interaction between the VFD and the pump motor. Installation and protection considerations including short circuit protection, harmonics, output filter considerations, and surge protection are also discussed.

Session 4: Troubleshooting: September 18, 2014 --- 1:00 - 2:00pm EDT
The final session covers the problems often encountered by users in the application of variable speed drives. Hardware and software troubleshooting will be discussed including proper grounding & cable routing, output cable length, cooling, fault codes, fault reset, and monitoring. System problems such as equipment vibration, water hammering, and maintenance will also be of topic in this session.
