Infrastructure access solutions provider EJ has announced its investment as a majority owner of GMI Composites, Inc., located in Muskegon, Michigan.
GMI is a custom molder of thermoset composite materials. It is a family owned company that began in 1923 as a button manufacturer, formerly known as George Morrell Industries. In the 1960’s, GMI turned its focus to structural composites. The current owners purchased the company in 1984 and brought their knowledge of advanced composites to help drive growth in a variety of industries, including medical, office furniture and aerospace.
“The combined strengths and resources from both EJ and GMI will provide an even broader range of innovative products for specialized applications,” said Tom Teske, EJ Vice President and General Manager. “We will be able to extend our reach to the growing use of composites in infrastructure solutions.”
GMI will remain an independent company with Bob Brady continuing as GMI President. “We have been a supplier to EJ for several years, producing unique product components for their customers,” said Brady. “We look forward to building on that relationship to bring customers innovative solutions combined with outstanding service.”
