Smart Growth America, an advocate group for sustainable, walkable, transit-accessible neighborhoods, has developed a nonpartisan council of local officials to support using — and sharing — smart-growth strategies, policies, and programs. The Advisory Board of the Local Leaders Council will also advise Smart Growth America about how state and federal decisions affect local communities.

The council is comprised of 22 U.S. municipal leaders representing big cities, rural towns, and suburban communities. The board met for the first time in October 2012 to discuss goals and deliberate on what services the council would provide to its members. View the full roster here.
