Some parts of metropolitan Chicago have had more than a foot of snow since New Year’s Eve, so they’re still plowing and hauling. Temperatures are expected to bounce around from the teens to the mid-40s over the next week, so once that’s finished they’ll be salting pretty much around the clock.
No wonder the readers I talk to sound exhausted.
So it’s a good time to pull our most popular snow-and-ice control articles for this week’s e-newsletter. The folks who responded to my December editorial must have sensed what was coming, because several asked for more articles on winter operations.
If you haven’t told me what you do (and don’t) want from Public Works, please feel free to tell me now. E-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I'm also curious to know how much salt you bought for this winter and if you think it'll be enough.
Hang in there, and be safe.
