Winter Roadway Deicing/Anti-icing Operations: Approaches to Help Keep Roads Clear and Waters Clean
November 6, 2014
1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. EST
The Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Wastewater Management and the Federal Highway Administration’s Office of Project Development and Environmental Review are joining together for another webcast “Winter Roadway Deicing/Anti-icing Operations: Approaches to Help Keep Roads Clear and Waters Clean.”
Salt is often used to make our streets, sidewalks, and parking lots usable during winter months, but using too much salt can negatively impact our nation’s water quality. Many communities are looking for solutions that make our travel safe while simultaneously protecting our waters. This webcast will include a brief introduction on a recent U.S. Geological Survey report and showcase examples of ways state transportation agencies and local governments are working creatively to reduce chloride impacts to waters.
This event is part of the joint EPA-FHWA 2014 webinar series.
