Cement treated asphalt base (CTAB) combines recycled asphalt pavement and cement powder to create a concrete-like foundation that adds to the durability of a concrete overlay.

Known for its accelerated bridge construction replacement program and use of alternative project-delivery methods, the Utah DOT decided that almost eight miles of interstate around Salt Lake City was no longer "a good candidate for asphalt."
