Environmental Services Laboratory, South Florida Water Management District, West Palm Beach, Fla., is a new-construction, two-story office and laboratory building totaling 34,778 square feet on a 1-acre site.

SFWMD regulates water use throughout the South Florida region, so the district practiced what it preached about water conservation by installing a water cistern and a graywater system (shown).

The multifunctional rooftop contains ice storage, chillers, and laboratory exhaust fans.

Thermal solar water heaters.

Sun shades were installed over the windows on the south and west sides of the building.
