In the public sector, work-life benefits make up for salaries that rarely compete with those in the private sector. At least 9 of every 10 survey respondents receive basic benefits such as health insurance, sick leave, and paid vacation. And at least 8 of every 10 respondents have access to a perk private-sector employees rarely see: pension plans.
The charts also show how important benefits are to respondents. Other benefits not listed include monetary bonuses (12% receive but 76% consider somewhat to very important); overtime pay (24% receive yet 71% consider important); and work at home/telecommuting (7% receive but 57% consider important).
