The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has released a free mobile app that monitors the heat index on a jobsite and displays worker risk level.

Workers and supervisors can plan accordingly, using reminders of protective measures the app provides. It is available in Spanish and English and can be found here.

The app is part of an outreach program to spread awareness of heat-related illnesses on the job. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis says, “For outdoor workers, ‘water, rest, and shade' are three words that can make the difference between life and death.”
