It just became profitable to point out the errors on street signs....if you live in South Korea. The capital city, Seoul, is holding a two-week campaign in which Koreans and foreigners are asked to snap a photo and report via email any confusing or mistranslated street signs written in English, Japanese and Chinese texts.

Additionally, the government is offering $1.6 million won ($1,430) in gift vouchers and a prize of a 200,000 won ($180) voucher for the top error spotter. Correcting street signs is just one way South Korea plans to fix bad translations:

While the campaign's promotional poster uses fairly innocuous typos as examples, the internet is awash with more amusing - and sometimes embarrassing - errors, particularly on tourist menus. Earlier this year, South Korea's government announced plans to crack down on baffling menu translations.
