‘Green' lubricant for trucks

Designed for overhead truck doors, Tod-co FG Lube contains no petroleum distillates. Its ingredients are food-grade— which is safer for the environment than grease. It can be used on springs, rollers, bearings, hinges, and locks. The product comes packaged in recyclable 16-oz. refillable pump spray bottles, recyclable plastic gallon containers with separate reusable sprayer, and 55-gal. drums. Todco. www.todco.com.

USBF wastewater treatment plants

The company is employing a new up-flow sludge blanket filtration (USBF) configuration, which consists of a USBF bioreactor followed by compact external membranes for final polishing filtration, for its wastewater treatment plants. With this configuration no special pretreatment is required. The biological treatment can be optimized for biological nutrient removal and the membrane energy input is kept low by the membrane design and the fact that the effluent from the USBF has less than 10 mg/l TSS. Cleaning and maintenance is safe, easy, and dry, with no exposure to chemicals and sludge. Ecofluid Systems Inc. www.ecofluid.com.

Reagent-free water testing

The ChloroSense reagent-free portable monitor simplifies chlorine measurement for water utilities. Once the sample is collected and inserted into the instrument, the automated test provides results in less than a minute. It records and stores results, which can be reviewed on the display or exported to a PC via a waterproof USB port. With ranges from 0–10 mg/l to 0–100 mg/l, it is ideal for both municipal water monitoring and water main disinfection. Multiple tests are eliminated and untrained personnel can achieve accurate results. Palintest USA. www.palintestusa.com.

Rugged flow switch

Ideal for water and wastewater treatment, the FCI FS2000H flow switch monitors the flow of water-based liquids, slurries, highly viscous or adhesive materials, and more. The insertion-style sensor installs flush to the inside of the pipe. Because it doesn't protrude into the media, it won't clog or impede flow so there is no pressure drop. Able to operate in media temperatures from -40° to 250° F, it is accurate to ±2%, with a 0.5-second response time and 1% repeatability. Fluid Components International. www.fluidcomponents.com.

Submersible mixer technology for water, wastewater

The newest generation of EMU submersible mixers—including the Maxi-prop TR 226 and the Megaprop TR 326—features advanced blade form and large propeller diameters that provide an energy savings of approximately 10%, when compared to similar submersible mixers. The company offers facilities a free estimate of their energy savings potential with the mixer technology. Wilo EMU USA LLC. www.wilo-emu-usa.com.

Safety barrier

The Nu-Cable TL-4 four-cable barrier system for median and roadside configurations is easy to install and maintain—and if hit, it can often be repaired within 30 minutes. Components include 4-lb. Rib-Bak U-channel breakaway steel posts and ¾-in. pre-stretched steel cables. The system costs less and is more visually appealing than traditional W-beam and concrete barriers, plus it does not block driver visibility. Nucor Steel Marion Inc. www.nucorhighway.com.

Pavement system uses recycled glass

The FilterPave porous pavement system is a colorful mosaic of structurally sound, highly permeable recycled glass aggregate collected from recycling centers and processed to prevent sharp edges. It creates a hardened surface with porosity comparable to open-graded base course that increases groundwater recharge by allowing stormwater to percolate into the ground. Plus, the glass base adsorbs hydrocarbons that leak from automobiles. Presto Geosystems. www.prestogeo.com.

Spreader attachments

TurfEx commercial-duty spreader attachments offer consistent, even distribution of anything from seed to fertilizer to ice melt. Constructed of lightweight, corrosion-resistant polyethylene, they can mount on a variety of service vehicles, including utility tractors, riding mowers, and ATVs. Six models are available either as electric or PTO-driven, with capacities of 3, 7, or 12 cu. ft. of material. The attachments are controlled in three ways: via flow gate, adjustable stainless-steel spinner, or controller speed actuation. TrynEx International.
