Eliminates need for third-party support
The 39-megapixel RCD105 is designed specifically for use with Leica's ALS-series LiDAR systems. The camera's controller records data from two heads for simultaneous acquisition of natural-color and false-color infrared images. The company says prices are competitive with pro-photo-based sensors. Leica Geosystems Inc. www.leica-geosystems.us.
Design software prevents erosion
Work with the land, rather than against it, by seeing how a jobsite would have formed over thousands of years and then engineering accordingly. This is the view from a road of eroding 3:1 slope before and after reclamation guided by Natural Regrade software; potential erosion problems are eliminated because the land wasn't simply leveled off. The program also works for business parks, golf courses, highway and fill slopes, and parks; and received an award for innovation at 2009 Intermat, one of the world's largest trade shows for the construction industry. Add the Tru-Pulse 360 to existing GPS technology to take one-shot offsets. Communicates distance, inclination, and height via a built-in serial port or optional Bluetooth. Laser Technology Inc. www.lasertech.com.
Software supports geospatial information
The 3D modeling program CityEngine 2009 aggregates GIS data so users can modify and regenerate examples of an entire city within minutes rather than months. Available for Mac OS X. Procedural Inc. www.procedural.com.
Pint-sized PC designed for surveyors
With 1 GB of memory, a 32-GB hard drive, and integrated WiFi, USB, or Bluetooth connections, the Trimble Tablet rugged computer and GPS controller provides enough storage and computing power to process data on a variety of office and field applications and transfer files to and from the office. The 7-in. touch-screen display makes data, maps, and applications easy to see. The unit automatically geotags photographs taken by the two digital cameras, one in the front and one in the back of the unit. Trimble Navigation Ltd. www.trimble.com.
Dual-constellation mobile mapping system
Surf the Internet and download maps and other data to and from GIS servers via a wireless local area network or Bluetooth technology from the handheld GRS-1. Designed as a GPS/GNSS network rover receiver for survey applications, the unit's internal cell modem can dial up a reference station network for real-time (RTK) correction data. The 2-megapixel digital camera is also a bar code reader. The internal L1 antenna's submeter capability can be enhanced by adding external antennas. Runs on the Windows Mobile operating system. |Takes pictures from up to 5,000 feet|
The LMS-Q680 laser scanner uses multiple-time-around processing to increase the accuracy of biomass analysis, target classification, and changing topography from an operating flight altitude of 5,000 ft. Maximum measurement range is 9,843 ft. Riegl USA Inc. www.rieglusa.com.
General ProductsSelf-leveling epoxy coating
Uroflex is a two-component, 100% solid urethane-modified-epoxy (UME) hybrid lining system that can be applied by brush, roller, or spray. It is self-priming and can be applied up to 25 to 40 mils vertically without sagging. It offers high hydrogen sulfide resistance and is resistant to sulfuric byproduct. Epoxytec. www.epoxytec.com.
Meets most transportation department regulations
Visible from 1,000 ft. in daylight, this pole transport marker's tamper-resistant warning light operates in steady-on or flash mode. It's available with amber or red lenses. Hi-Line Utility Supply Co. www.hilineco.com.
Prevent corrosion in concrete pipe
ConmicShield, an antibacterial additive, prevents microbiologically induced corrosion from deteriorating concrete pipe and manholes in municipal sewers. It kills the acid-producing bacteria on contact. When added to the concrete mix, it molecularly bonds to the concrete matrix, creating a hostile environment for aerobic bacteria. When the bacteria come into contact with the fortified concrete their cell structure ruptures and the organism dies. Conshield Technologies Inc. www.conshield.com.
30% more fuel-efficient
Designed for utilities that clean entire wastewater and sanitary systems, the Vactor 2100 Plus features increased vacuum performance. Vactor, a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corp. www.vactor.com.
Comes with onboard diagnostics system
Powered by a 9-liter Cummins ISL engine with 345 hp and 1,150 lb.-ft. of torque, the T470 displays miles per gallon, engine and idle hours, idle percentage, and optimum rpm range so snowplow, dump, mixer, winch, and refuse truck drivers optimize fuel usage and reduce wear and tear on the engine and transmission. The electronic data center also translates diagnostic codes into easy-to-read text in English, French, or Spanish. An extended day cab, which adds 6 in. of length and 5 in. of height, is available as an option. 2,000- to 22,000-lb.-rated front axles, 21,000- to 26,000-lb.-rated single rear axles, and 40,000- to 46,000-lb.-rated tandem rear axles. |Generates salt slurry|
The Salt Slurry Generator reduces the amount of road salt usage per lane mile — and residual salt buildup — while maximizing salt efficiency. How it works: Rock salt or other free-flowing materials are conveyed or auger-fed to the machine. The roller mill section grinds the salt into fine particles, which are then sprayed with a liquid brine to create a slurry mixture. The slurry is dispersed in a variable pattern on the road surface via spinning disc assembly. This process increases salt volume by 25%. Plus, the brine process activates faster, thus melting snow and ice faster. Monroe Truck Equipment. www.monroetruck.com.
Design extends productive work area
The hose on the Megawind combination vacuum and catch basin cleaner is attached to an articulated boom that rotates 180 degrees, enabling operators to reach anywhere within a 10-ft. radius.
