In the June issue, page 19, we printed incorrect information about San Diego County Water Authority's $568 million San Vicente Dam Raise project. The project will raise the existing dam, which is owned and operated by the City of San Diego, from 117 feet to 337 feet. It will be the tallest dam raise in the United States, and will more than double the size of the existing reservoir to increase local water storage capacity. This photo shows hydrodemolition of the downstream face of the dam (work done by American Hydro and Fraco Products Ltd.) to prepare the dam to be raised. The actual raising of the dam will be completed in early 2013.
