As New Orleans continues the slow journey on the road to recovery, the city's architects are aiding the effort by designing first-class parks, preservation of historic buildings, and other projects.
The New Orleans chapter of the American Institute of Architects has bestowed 12 Awards of Honor and Merit upon a number of public, residential, and commercial projects around the city.
Winners include the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal Park, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project designed by local architecture firm Perez APC. The site will include landscaping, waterfront bike and jogging paths, and other amenities.
