Utility loader for tight places

The Dingo TX 427 compact utility loader can dig, haul, plant, or build almost anything in tight places (it easily passes through a 36-in. gate). Available in either narrow- or wide-track design, it has a 27-hp Kohler engine for increased pulling and digging force and a heavy-duty, two-stage air cleaner for dust and dirt filtration in harsh environments. Features include four independent hydraulic pumps, 535-lb. rated operating capacity, and 5.1 psi of ground pressure that won't tear up turf. The Toro Co. www.toro.com.Circle 9.

Rollers with compaction sensors

The company's vibratory single-drum soil rollers and double-drum asphalt rollers are equipped with the Compaction Information System, which includes a compaction sensor and GPS. As compaction increases with increased roller passes, drum acceleration increases according to machine/ ground interaction. The sensor calculates a compaction value (CCV) that indicates degree of compaction. All compaction data is recorded for the entire project, including GPS position, CCV, number of passes, and surface temperature at every pass. A touchscreen in the roller control panel allows operators to assess the level of compaction required. SAKAI America. www.sakaiamerica.com.Circle 10.

Software optimized for design of reinforced slopes

An updated version of StrataSlope software — which assists engineers with the design and analysis of geogrid-reinforced steep slopes (up to 70 degrees) — provides current product material properties so designers can select accurate, effective, and long-lasting materials. Available for download, it is recommended by experienced geotechnical and civil engineers familiar with mechanically stabilized earthen structures. Strata Systems Inc. www.geogrid.com.Circle 11.

Amphibious excavator for swampy areas

The Marsh Buggy amphibious excavator has two hydraulic motors on each set of tracks (the equivalent of four-wheel drive) and expandable pontoons, making it ideal for dredging, erosion control, and shoreline construction. It can also be used for maintaining and clearing rivers and lakes. It is easy to break down and assemble, and can be shipped in three containers for remote sites. Indicator system for mobile cranes

The iVISOR mentor E165 displays at a glance all the functional information a mobile crane operator needs — load, boom angle, boom length, radius, and parts of line. The indicator system also alerts the operator to an impending two-block condition. The operator can preset limits for all geometric and load variables; an audible and visual warning emits when limits are reached. Maintenance-free sensors are connected by CANbus technology. Hirschmann Automation and Control Inc. www.hirschmann-usa.com.Circle 13.

Hybrid excavator uses less fuel

The Hybrid PC200LC-8 excavator reduces fuel consumption by 25% to 40%. It is powered by the Komatsu Hybrid System, which works on the principle of swing energy regeneration and energy storage via an electric swing motor, power generator motor, capacitor, and diesel engine. It has an operating weight of 43,643 to 47,260 lbs. and bucket capacity of 0.66 to 1.57 square yards. The KOMTRAX fleet monitoring system tracks location, operating hours, and fuel consumption. Komatsu America Corp. www.komatsuamerica.com.Circle 14.

Durable electric cranes

EH Series cranes have wireless remote control, 360-degree continuous rotation, and system overrides for anti-two-block, pump, and crane functions. The self-contained hydraulic system's 12 V DC motor delivers 2.2 gal./minute and the 100% solid-state control system includes arch suppression and 25-ft. cable. Other features include a planetary winch with hoist drum and wire rope located outside the boom for improved operator visibility. Maintainer Corp. of Iowa Inc. www.maintainer.com.Circle 15.

60-in. sweeping surface

Built with a 60-in.-long mainframe, the SweepEx Mega 600 broom attachment is adaptable to most service vehicles for cleanup of dirt, leaves, snow, material spills, standing water, steel shavings, and gravel. It has no moving parts and is easily replaced, rotated, or removed by detaching the rugged end protectors. The unique bristle action minimizes dust and flying debris. Keep roads in good shape

Based on laser line sensing technology for accurate profiling of all pavement geometries, the Selcom High Speed RoLine 1130 Sensor mounts to any vehicle to determine road conditions and prioritize highway or any road surface maintenance. It measures road profiles, road roughness, and pavement smoothness. The data is exchanged between end users, data collections, vendors, and construction and design engineers. LMI Technologies Inc. www.lmitechnologies.com.Circle 17.

Keep operators working longer

The 54.2-hp E80 excavator's new design increases service intervals, operator comfort, and durability. Daily service points are eliminated, i.e., daily greasing of bushings at the boom, arm, and bucket, so operators spend more time working. A spacious, climate-controlled cab houses an ergonomic seat that adjusts six ways for operators of any size. Other features include an auto-idle feature that reduces fuel consumption, quiet operation, and minimal tail swing for compact job conditions. It's delivered clamp ready. Automated grading with ±0.25-in. accuracy

The automated, laser-based AccuGrade grading system for Caterpillar C-Series skid-steer, multiterrain, and compact track loaders establishes flat or single-slope grades to within ±0.25 in. without grade stakes or the expense of grade checkers and stake-setting surveyors. Machines can grade more area per hour and are more fuel-efficient in the process. Caterpillar Inc. www.cat.com.Circle 19.
