DBIA names 2010 chair

The Design-Build Institute of America elected John Young, president of American Water Services and American Water Works Service Co., to lead the organization next year. Young, a civil and environmental engineer who's served on the EPA National Drinking Water Advisory Council and several working groups, joined the nation's largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility in 1977. He was most recently the institute's treasurer.

The 2010 Midwest Organic Lawn Care and Landscaping Conference is bringing the nation's lawn, landscape, and turf management leaders — including municipal officials and grounds staffs — to Madison, Iowa, Jan. 28 – 29. Powerful recycling partnership

California's DOT, the American Chemistry Council (ACC), and Keep California Beautiful's new initiative increases the recycling of plastics and other recyclable materials that are usually discarded at rest areas. Meanwhile, ACC and Keep California Beautiful, in a beach recycling program partnership with the California Department of Parks and Recreation, placed more than 500 seasonal and permanent recycling bins at 19 state park coastal locations.
