Bob Freudenthal, deputy general manager for the Hendersonville Utility District, Hendersonville, Term., took over the presidency of the American Public Works Association during the association's International Public Works Congress and Exposition in Minneapolis in September. Freudenthal succeeds past president Tom Trice, director of public works in Bloomfield, Mich.
Freudenthal began his career with Hendersonville as a building inspector, then became director of public works in 1988. In 2001, he was appointed director of public works for the city of Paducah, Ky., before returning to Hendersonville three years later.
Freudenthal will lead the 27,000-member organization, which provides education services and supports increased investments in the nation's public works and infrastructure systems, for a one-year term.
