The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced in July that they were investigating brake problems of the 2011-2013 Ford F-150, in reports of nearly 250,000 pickup trucks. Over 60 percent of the reports have trickled in over the past nine months, leading the NHTSA to view the recalls as, “an apparent increasing trend.” This recall, is on the heels of 2014’s General Motors recall of vehicles that failed to brake, resulting in 140,067 2014 Chevrolet Malibu’s to be recalled.

The vehicles in question are equipped with a 3.5L GTI engine, yet the complaints come from the electric vacuum assist pump fails. As a result, brake power is lost and can happen at anytime, without warning.
