Every year, our annual salary survey asks city, county, special district, township, and state public works readers to provide details about their compensation (salaries and benefits). In addition to summarizing the results in a feature article, we analyze the data by EPA region.
We launched the survey a decade ago because not even the American Public Works Association gathers this information.
We’re gearing up for this year’s survey. If all goes as planned, you’ll get an e-mail from me on Mon., Feb. 1, with a link to the survey.
We always get the most responses from EPA Region 5. I don't know if that's because the Public Works office is in Chicago or if we friendly Midwesterners just can't say no.
At any rate, I’m giving you a heads up now in hopes that you’ll help us with this exclusive research by responding.
In the meantime, be careful out there. I'd hate to hear of anyone in public works being hurt or killed during snow and ice control efforts.
