Land bridges will be one of the more visually stunning components built at A Gathering Place For Tulsa. Construction on the bridges, for the new $350 million park, began last week with the first of 190 pier castings being drilled into the ground.
The park will be made up of three rows of piers that will be installed for the bridges. These bridges will tastefully connect the riverfront with the main part of the park:
“The main move in trying to stitch this together and make it feel like a continuous park was the introduction of those two land bridges,” said Christopher Gates, an associate principal with Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, the park’s designer. “… Parks aren’t always ideal spaces.
