North Port, Florida (August 5, 2010) - Architects Design Group (ADG) was recently selected as the Design Criteria Professional to prepare a Master Site Plan and Phase One Design / Build Documents for the new City of North Port Public Services Joint Facility.

ADG completed a Comprehensive Facility Study, including a detailed Space Needs Assessment, for the City in 2009. This study is the basis for ADG's efforts in developing a complete Design Criteria Package and Site Master Plan for the new Facility that will include Fleet Maintenance; Solid Waste; and Public Works Administration, Infrastructure and Operations.

A critical need identified in the study is the current and long-term spatial needs of the Public Works Department due to the growing community and the aging conditions of the current Public Services Facilities. "The population of the City is expected to significantly increase and possibly double by 2030, and the original Public Services Facilities were built in the mid-70's. A new consolidated Public Services Facility will significantly improve the quality and quantity of services the City can offer the community now and into the foreseeable future," said ADG Senior Vice President Kevin Ratigan.

The Master Site Plan will provide for the Phase 1 Fleet Maintenance facility, Phase 2 Public Works facility, and the Phase 3 future expansion to meet the joint facility needs through the year 2025. The Phase 1 Fleet Maintenance facility will incorporate approximately 14,000 square feet of administrative and crew workspace; 12 universal work bays for the maintenance of City vehicles and equipment, with provision for the future expansion of an additional 6 bays; a vehicle wash station, and a fueling facility. Sustainable site design elements will include native landscape buffers and the use of bioswales to address stormwater quality requirements.
