Blogs, like many of the other social media tools, are often misunderstood and sometimes thought of as a negative form of communication. Yet by the end of 2011, NM Incite, a Nielsen/McKinsey Company, reported tracking at least 173 million blogs worldwide and almost 20 million bloggers publishing to these sites.

Studies have shown that more than two-thirds of our population are visual learners, which probably helps explain why television and movies are so popular. This preference for consuming information in a visual format is also obvious from our online behavior.
